Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin picked up a cruciate ligament injury in the 2-0 win over Chelsea last time out and is set to miss the rest of the season.
The Spaniard was in pains as he fell to the ground in the Gunner’s impressive win over the Blues to go within four points of Chelsea in fourth on the English Premier League table.
Chelsea have announced that more tests will be carried to confirm whether the 24 year old also damaged his meniscus and other parts of the joint. The Gunners supporters will be hoping for a speedy recovery of one of their best players from his latest injury setback.
The Spain international had only just returned from a calf injury which saw him remain on the sidelines for over four weeks. The Chelsea game represented his return to the Arsenal squad from his calf injury and he has now picked up a more devastating one.
Bellerin has been left devastated by the latest setback and will now begin to try to work his way back to full fitness.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery, said after the match, that he fears the damage to Bellerin looks very bad and he must now look for a replacement for one of his best players.
Stefan Lichtsteiner and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are potential replacements for Bellerin at right back but Emery reminded us that they also have Carl Jenkinson to cover up for them in the position.
Emery has also confirmed that his club will not be making any permanent transfers this January, as the Arsenal board have limited their business to only loans.
