Arsenal are scheduled to entertain Tottenham Hotspur in the weekend’s north London derby in the Premier League. The Gunners and Spurs suffered defeats to Liverpool and Newcastle United in the previous gameweek but the latter would surely be the most disappointed after failing to secure maximum points against a mid-table side on their home turf.
On the other hand, things have looked much positive for the Gunners from the close of the previous campaign, where they missed out on Champions League qualification. Despite the 3-1 loss at Anfield, Unai Emery’s side should not suffer a drop in terms of the momentum, given their opponents are touted as the front-runners to usurp Manchester City to the league crown.
When it comes to the north London derby, there has been a fairly even contest over the past few years but the Gunners have had the better run of results at the Emirates Stadium. Last season, the Gunners produced one of the best performances under Emery during the 4-2 league triumph at the stadium and they should go into the game with plenty of optimism, considering Spurs are not in the best of shape.
While the Gunners have defensive injury concerns of their own, Spurs are also expected to be without key players for the contest. Spurs’ record signing Tanguy Ndombele is set to be sidelined with a thigh injury and reports suggest that Kyle Walker-Peters and Dele Alli are also doubtful for the north London derby due to fitness concerns.
Taking this into mind, we are fancying the Gunners to secure a third-straight home league win over Spurs, although a clean sheet remains doubtful with their defensive frailties and the presence of Harry Kane, who has regularly scored for Spurs in the derby irrespective of the outcome.
