Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Celtic star Kieran Tierney in the summer according to reports from England. The Daily Mirror claims that the Gunners are looking to sign the 21-year-old as part of their summer transfer spree.
The Northern Irish tactician helped grow the defender’s game during his time at the club and presented the 21-year-old with his debut some few seasons ago. Leicester are also known to spend good money on players and have good backing from their owners.
It is expected that the former Premier League Champions are bracing for a bid from Manchester City and Chelsea for star defender Ben Chilwell on the summer. Manchester City are looking for another left-back as a result of the persistent injury to Benjamin Mendy while the Blues are searching for replacements for Marcos Alonso.
Tierney is viewed as a good replacement for the defender as they possess similar qualities.
Arsenal, on the other hand, wants the player as a long-term custodian of the left-back position. Nacho Monreal is old and expected to move back to Spain in the summer. Current replacement Sand Kolasinac is not seen as a consistent performer in the position. Club boss Unai Emery also has to cope with a small transfer Budget in the summer making the signed of Tierney a no-brainer.
Tierney is expected to cost within the ranges of £27 million according to media reports. It remains to be seen which destination the defender would head in the summer but it is most likely an English Premier League team.
